CARIBOU POND |
||
|
Caribou Pond is one of a chain of three ponds connected by waterways . . . Caribou, Egg and Long Ponds. Together they cover 825 acres with a maximun depth of 46 feet. Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white perch and pickerel are abundant. Bass in excess of three pounds are not uncommon. You can swim, kayak, canoe, fish and get awesome photos of loons and other wildlife. There are many areas close by to hike, sightsee or to fish for other species, such as trout and salmon. Ice fishing is also available in the winter months. |

HUNTING |

It is a well-known fact that large whitetail deer and black bear are plentiful in this region of the state of Maine. There are many logging roads in the area you can walk on in anticipation of seeing that trophy size animal. For bird hunters, the partridge abound in the woods and old apple orchards of the area. The Penobscot River is busy with ducks of all types. Bear hunting season overlaps the fishing season, so come . . . hunt in the morning and afternoon, while you fish the rest of the day. There are Registered Maine Guides in the area, and float planes can land on Caribou Pond. |

| The Lincoln Snowhounds Club maintains miles of trails within the Lincoln region for riders to enjoy. The Dwinal Pond 4-Seasons Club maintains approximately 200 miles of approved ATV trails. These trails provide a wide range of riding enjoyment for the novice as well as the expert rider. One can enjoy a variety of scenic rides from rivers to mountains within range of restaurants. For winter enjoyment, the club maintains approximately 50 miles of local trails that interconnect to adjoining club trails and the state ITS system for hundreds of miles of riding pleasure. Bring your machines and enjoy what this region has to offer you and your family. You can trailer your ATV or snowmobile to the local clubhouse, or your trail ride can begin at the door of your cabin. | ||

The world famous Penobscot River is only minutes away and offers fishermen many opportunities of catching world record size and numbers of smallmouth bass. Travel only 35 minutes to the renowned West Branch of the Penobscot for salmon and trout fishing at its best. |

WHITEWATER RAFTING |

New England Outdoor Center is Maine's premier whitewater rafting center. It is located only 30 minutes from Lincoln, in Millinocket. The first two miles of the Penobscot River trip descend Class V rapids through breathtaking Ripogenus Gorge, ending with a run through the Cribworks. There is little time to practice the moves your guide will instruct you in before hitting Exterminator and the Staircase. The remaining 12 miles of Class III and IV rapids stretches from Big Eddy to Pocwockamus Falls. This is an action-packed trip from start to finish. Everything you need is provided by the outfitter. Moose and bald eagles are commonly seen feeding on the river with an occasional black bear making an appearance. |

Within 35 minutes drive of the cabins is the famous Mt. Katahdin and Baxter State Park. Drives or hikes through the park will allow you to view the wildlife as well as the awesome beauty that abounds. You may see moose feeding in the ponds or streams.
